That desire to create art from a female perspective informs the work of multidisciplinary artist Alicia Radage, whose exhibition Dream of the Mother Language opens on January 18 at Pictorum Gallery, with a performance titled Insomnia Hot Autumn on January 24. The exhibition will transform the gallery into a womb-like world of tongues, breasts, stomachs and non-human hybrids, engulfing the space in Radage’s inner psyche. It will explore secular and spiritual concepts, womanhood and entrenched attitudes to female bodies within a powerful feminist framework.
